With the heart in the right place and feet firmly rooted in the sounds of British pop-acts and the American 90's grunge, Sleeping Dervish delivers their version of alternative rock. The sound builds on both creatively artless guitar riffs and catchy song melodies, but also plays around with colorful chording and tastefully epic harmonies. Sleeping Dervish started up as a two man project between the singer-songwriter Gustaf Classon and drummer Vanja Hadzic (Maytreia, Lava Engine) but has now grown with the addition of bass player Andreas Hosio (Fingers Crossed) plus a secret but potent sidekick. Also the sound technician and producer Andreas Boldt (a.k.a. Studio Star) is shaping the sound with his way of recording the band and personal interest. The EP Paper Tigers is the bands third studio recording but the members feel that it's musically and sound wise is the first recording that really is in the right direction. You could describe the sound of Paper Tigers as a mix of Foo Fighters and Blur after four glasses of wine (well worth testing!). Now that the EP is recorded the band feels hungry for doing gigs all over Sweden and promoting their music, mainly via internet and myspace. Several internet radio stations and podcasters has already played one or several of their songs, and thousands of people have visited their myspace and listened to Paper Tigers. The band is doing their best to keep contact with fans all over the world, and armed with school book English and several smilies they are updating their page, answering e-mails and commenting guest books on a daily basis.
